The Elite Trainee Management Programme: Case Study

Italian born Marion Amort had studied in Italy, Switzerland and at the University of Surrey before deciding to join the Elite Hotels Group in the Trainee Management scheme. With a Masters in International Hotel Management, Marion was eager to kick-start her career and was particularly drawn to Elite Hotels and their Management Trainee Programme by the traditional English values of hospitality and the distinctive approach to luxury service.

During the programme each Elite trainee manager will spend time in each department across the four Elite Hotels. From chefs, to housekeepers to event co-ordinators, they will be given detailed experience in each so that they can truly experience what working for Elite Hotels is like.

“The Elite Management Trainee Programme was a brilliant opportunity to gain the necessary practical experience after graduating from university. As a very well structured and versatile programme it was an ideal stepping stone into a managerial career in hotels. The programme was designed to give us candidates the needed know-how in all hotel departments and a better understanding of all aspects of the operation.

The time on the programme was challenging, exciting, highly relevant and very inspiring; particularly as we had the opportunity to work with a vast variety of people with different knowledge, experience and managerial styles but also because we had the privilege to train in all four Elite Hotels.”

Since finishing the programme, Marion has progressed from Management Trainee to Senior Assistant Manager at 5 star Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa and thereafter was part of the opening team of a 4 star boutique hotel in Hertfordshire as Restaurant, Lounge and Bar Manager. Today, the 28 year old is part of Luton Hoo’s management team as Training and Quality Assurance Manager where she manages all training activities across the 1,064-acre estate to ensure that each team member thrives in their role and is able to deliver ouststanding guest experiences.

Looking back on it now, four years after graduating from the programme, the values and skills I learned during the Elite Management Training journey are still as relevant as they were then and I believe being part of the programme was an unforgettable experience and a privilege that laid the foundations for my hospitality career.”
